Some time ago I
grew frustrated and overwhelmed with Social Media. I was almost fatigued
with my relation with Facebook, had neglected MySpace and almost resented
Selfgrowth.com I knew I had to go on to Twitter and had to find out about a
couple of other sites, but the idea made me sick. What was going on?
As a shaman, I
work with the emotional and energy dimensions, as well as the physical and
mental aspects of daily problems. When things like this happen to me,
they are usually a mirror of what is happening around me, and I take
time to journey into the substance of the emotions to find the truth.
I stepped back,
meditated and looked at my situation with detachment. I asked other people,
to get a sense of what was going on. Then I asked for guidance. The guidance
came in the form of a social media expert, Nancy Marmolejo. Read her article

for practical advise to deal with your frustration. Here I
address the emotional aspects that may be weighing down on you as you
engage in Social Media.
I discovered two emotional places in our psyche where deep wounds may exist
that are exacerbated by the dynamics in Social Media. This is especially
women, who are so relationship oriented. Here is what I discovered.
Social networking can be frustrating or addictive for deep emotional reasons
harbored in your unconscious. These "reasons" are False Beliefs and
toxic emotions accumulated from your past. I call this the Emotional
Undertow.
NO.1: Fear and hunger in relation to money
The first personal
drama that may be playing out behind the scenes in your Social Media has to
do with your fears about and hunger for money.
If you have fear
about money, getting clients, meeting the budget, recession, visibility and
other related areas, you may act-out in the social media arena by
being overly aggressive. You may also act-in by withdrawing in
frustration.
Social media is
networking and it responds to the Female Face of Prosperity: building
relationships. Aggressive Marketing is the Male Face of Prosperity.
It is fast, highly focused and, well... aggressive. Networking is slow,
process-oriented and focused in quality and balance of giving and receiving.
In comparison to
other online marketing tools, Social Media may seem too slow. If you need
clients for next month, and you begin to push and overkill, you are going to
close the genuine connection with people that these media offer. You are
going to turn people off, cause they are going to feel and see that you are
hustling. And sorry, but you are.
This is not to
offend you. It is to lovingly bring you back to your center. Feel your
hunger and fear, and release it. If you are a person of faith, connect to
your higher self and pray for peace and for the removal of fear.
Fear is an organic
response to danger. Face your financial situation by listing your fears.
Then access the real possibility of certain dangers. Make a simple, doable
plan to address any real danger. Track down the dangers that are remnants
from the past or based on old emotions, and release them in exhalation. Use
the exercise below.

Exercise
STEP 1: Inhalation and tracking
As you
inhale, tap into your fear, hearing the voice that holds the belief.
STEP 2: Exhalation and release
As you
exhale, say the words that keep this belief festering inside you. Say
them as if you were grabbing a runaway prey. Use your hands to comb
out these feelings from your Energy Field, and release them, shaking
your fingertips outwards.
EXAMPLE:
"I must
get 5 clients for next month or I won't be able to pay the rent, and
in this recession time, this may not happen."
Then affirm:
This is not true. Delete!
STEP 3: Inhalation and Affirmation
(Based on
the Laws of Attraction)
Inhale and smile inwardly as you say your
affirmation. Open your heart to receive it. Feel the energy pathways
as these people get closer to you.
EXAMPLE:
"I am doing
exactly what my Soul came here to do. The Universe is right now
tapping the minds of those who need my services and leading them
towards me."

In order to get
the faster responses you need, make plans to use other online marketing
strategies or look at existing partners who can benefit from the events you
offer.
Once you address
these fears at a financial, emotional and strategic level, you can
keep your social networking coming from your heart and from a genuine
interest in the people.

richer, and the clients that do come eventually will have a genuine human

NO. 2: Orphanhood of the Soul and Issues of Acceptance
The second
personal drama that may be causing havoc in your life right now relates to
addiction issues that may come up in your Social Media dynamics.
"Who, me?
Addiction? I am not an addict!" You may be thinking.
You would be a
rare individual if you did not have addiction issues. Our entire society has
an addictive MO and promotes addiction. Issues of control, hunger,
acceptance and abandonment, among others, are deeply related to addiction.
If you have a
hunger for acceptance, fear of being accepted and an Inner Orphan Child
who has been deeply wounded and not yet fully healed, you are going to feel
frustrated in social media. If you act-in this orphanhood, you may
begin to experience fatigue, frustration, rejection, depression
If you act-out
this orphanhood, you may get trapped into an anxious, addictive rush. This
is when you get hooked and go out of balance, as Nancy Marmolejo describes
in her article.
You want them to
love you. You want to get MORE friends, and MORE. And MORE. Gee, you can get
friends from all parts of the word. You can make 100, 200, 500, 1,000
friends. You will feel so loved, right? Wrong. Nothing will be enough, and
you will begin to hoard friends, forgetting your work and your business or
personal goals.
You will begin to
try harder, try more gadgets, and if they don't work, you will feel more
rejected. A lot of that gadget stuff is the Inner Children of the
adults playing, and it's fun and okay, as long as the Little Orphan
is not driving the bus, seeking attention from a place of hunger, and
forgetting your adult goals.
What to do?
Self-mother your Little Orphan. Stand in the place of your power.
Think of your purpose and the gift that you have to bring into the world.
From a place of power, of purpose and of giving, move into Social Media with
an open and joyful heart. To play, to share, and to enrich your life. Your
Inner Child will benefit from this, but will not be the one driving
that bus.
Remember that the Female Face of Prosperity is networking. Watch
Spider Mother, and you will see that creating this web is an art form that
takes time and dedication. Once those thin strands are woven together,
however, they can and will sustain abundant life.
