Under the Moon
By Maria Mar© To Nancy Marmolejo, in Gratitude Under the moon everything shines at least for an instant. Even Shadows. Even the darkest words, full of hatred or ignorance. Under the moon everything shines in a democratic, senseless jumble that sets the treasure near the stinking garbage. Sometimes we wonder whether the darkness around us has swallowed love, trust, friendship and truth; for all our eyes can see is litter glitter. At those times, we feel alone and sad. Then it happens. The moon gracefully dances around our fears. It blushes, sparkling silver and amber passion into our eyes and hearts. She illuminates the courage of those who seek peace in the midst of war. She illuminates those who commit themselves to goodness and give it all they have, in spite their imperfection. She whispers. Oh, yes, old wise, crafty Grandmother Moon whispers into our ears. And we hear the voices of hope of our beautiful sisters guiding us through the dark.
